Dori Hallberg

In 1998, Dori opened Island Tea Company on Whidbey Island in Washington State.  In doing so, she fulfilled a family prophecy that one day she would have a shop of her own.  Launching and growing a successful business has been a satisfying experience.   There has always been something new to learn and challenges to be tackled, and tackle them Dori has done, one day at a time.  She would tell you that as her business has grown and blossomed, so has she.

When Dori opened her shop, simple pine shelves offered 12 different teas.  Today, shelves display nearly 100 teas, and the store is filled with a profusion of tea accessories, small gifts, local arts and crafts, and vintage china and linens.  While proud of her company’s success, it is the people that frequent Island Tea Company that matter most to Dori.   All are greeted cheerfully, most by name, and many have become good friends.  Some of these friends have launched businesses of their own giving Dori the opportunity to share her business expertise.

Dori lives with her husband and sons, just a stone’s throw from beautiful Puget Sound.  When not in her tea shop, you might find her in her garden, at the beach, or on a long walk enjoying her lovely island home.
